Lyrics to John Ottman’s "They’ll Remember You" from Valkyrie

I’ve tried to find the lyrics and origins to the final piece of the soundtrack for Valkyria, composed by John Ottman. “They’ll remember you” is a stunningly beautiful modern choir piece with references to both Mozart and Monteverdi.

According to Wikipedia, Ottman based the lyrics on a well known poem by german writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe – The Wanderer (Ein Gleiches, Wandrers Nachtlied, written in 1780).

Über allen Gipfeln
Ist Ruh
In allen Wipfeln
Spürest du
Kaum einen Hauch
Die Vögelein schweigen
Vögelein schweigen
Schweigen im Walde
Warte nur, balde
Ruhest du auch

Über allen Gipfeln
Ist Ruh
In allen Wipfeln
Spürest du
Kaum einen Hauch
Die Vögelein schweigen
Schweigen im Walde
Warte nur, balde
Ruhest du
Ruhest du auch

  1. Just found this post by accident. Wanted to add that the melody is apparently inspired by Schubert’s version of Wandrers Nachtlied II. E.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfEcVkO9bHo

  2. Hi all,
I am willing to sing this beautiful song in a choir. I cannot reach the author. Any ideas? Thank you.

    • Hi,

I did a quick google search and none if the sheet music vendors out there seemed to have this particular piece available. You might try to reach out to the composer, although that might be hard. I’m guessing he’s a busy man…

One other route you might try is to try either the Choir that originally recorded the soundtrack (Berlin Radio Chorus I think). But that’s also a long shot.

I would say your best bet is to find someone that could take the recording and basically create a custom arrangement.

      Good luck!
